This website is nothing more than an independent and critical guide for less mobile people looking for an adapted hotel or alternative accommodation outside The Netherlands.

For convenience' sake only the word hotel is used. Also in case of an alternative accommodation.

Aspects like wheelchair accessibility, atmosphere, personal treatment, general hygiene, order and tidiness are the criteria we use for our annual evaluation.The result of this - subjective - evaluation is reflected by stars.

We distinguish between:

hotels where one can recover after a stay in hospital (convalescence hotels, marked C);
holiday hotels (marked H) and, depending on the country,
residential hotels for indefinite stay (marked R);

It happens more often than not that hotels themselves don't distinguish between these three categories.

However, unfortunately our computersystem can only show our evaluation of one activity (C, R or H).

Medical Care outside NL Every person insured for medical care in The Netherlands is entitled to compensation of expenses made for medical care provided elsewhere. The compensation is based on his/her ZVW/AWBZ insurance, european legislation and jurisprudence. In most cases permission by the Dutch insurer is required in advance. Normally the insurer will pay according to price-levels in The Netherlands. This means that people will have to contribute with their own private means if price levels in other countries are much higher than in The Netherlands. It is important to know that the foreign professionals providing medical care must be officially recognized in their own country and be authorized to ask financial compensation for their services. A so called CIZ indication is valid outside The Netherlands. However, it is wise to consult the insurer before leaving the country.
